The other day I ran into a guy that had gotten a DWI and was in need of money.
He had a Ruger New Model Blackhawk in 357 Mag. that he wanted to sale. I offered $60 because It was ugly and he said yes.



It's a little rusty and missing the rear sight blade and has some ugly grips. Other the that the gun is in great shape.

Oh! I did give the guy a little advise when it comes to drinking and driving. " Beer taste better in a La-Z-Boy."

Soak in some Ballistol/initial scrub/boil in moose milk, and fix the sights and wear well.

If it can be stabilized at all, I wouldn't refinish, but that may not be possible in your climate.

It does look like it's been riding the felon circuit/was found in a swamp...

The rust is not bad, no pitting, just surface.
I'm going to use a Electrolysis Tank to remove the rust. I don't have plans to refinish it at this time. I will depend on what it looks like once it is cleaned up.

Randy, Thanks for the offer, but I think I will hang on to my sin for a while.

Out of simple curiosity, is there a reason to not Cerakote it?

That might not look too bad blasted/hard chromed, or something.

Thou must do penance by restoring it to the best of your abilities, and burning that grip in a sacrificial fire.

You're not, but whoever installed those grips has a good chance, IMHO.
