Palmetto State Armory AR-10 Build... Complete w. WECSOG!

I've had pretty good luck w. PSA stuff, until this build. My AR-10 lower (the supposedly better one, not the PTAC) w. the mag catch installed would not lock in Pmags. So I thought maybe I got bum catch and installed another from extras (they are the same as AR-15 mag releases). No dice.

Upon further inspection, I could see the slots cut in the mags weren't lined up w. the catch hole (for lack of a better term). The mags weren't going in far enough to engage the catch.

So, after a few beers while watching the Giants shit the bed, I decided to break out the Dremel.

Now it works. I'll do a sober polishing and refinishing tomorrow. Hopefully, the rest of the build goes without hitch.

I did. But they wouldn't cover the NICS and transfer fees.

Hit it with some AlumaBlack. Be sure to follow the directions and get the layer of aluminum oxide off first so the finish will take well.

I polished it up, sprayed it w. some brake cleaner, wiped it down and hit it w. a Birchwood Casey Super Black pen. Good as new.

Actually they are under obligation. A letter from a lawyer ought to fix that.

Hmm. I should have pushed it up the chain of command. Good to know.

But I was impatient to get the thing working.
