Getting it assembled was never my issue. Getting that damned thing back out makes me nuts.

Grind an angle onto a crappy small allen wrench. Use it like a pick to pull it out of the detent. Then use the hitch pin to push out the takedown pin, and a punch to turn the hitch pin and catch the detent and spring.
