Mouseguns

Post by JKosprey »

Alright, what's everyone's favorite mouse-gun?

I've got a J-frame. I like it, but I feel like even that prints too much. Not so bad in the cold months coming up, of course. I'm in NY, so, it's a pretty non-permissive environment. I really don't feel like having anybody "make" me. So, the J-frame has been staying home more often than not. All of the recent shootings, plus the somewhat recent attack on the recruiting center have made me want to change that. I really want to be able to carry *something* all the time. I've noticed that my 1911 is *almost* as easy as the J-frame to conceal. I've also got a small flare gun at work that reminds me of an LCP. It slips into a pocket without a problem. So I've been thinking about a small auto.

Seems like the front-runners according to google are the M&P Shield, as well as the various offerings by Kahr, Kel-Tech, and Ruger. Lets call my budget about 600. Which do you like, and why?

I liked the size and convenience of my Kel-Tec, but I'm liking the reliability of the 442 J frame that replaced it. I put it in a Kramer pocket holster, so it isn't particularly obvious in my pocket. The finish is getting beat all to hell from daily carry though, whereas the P3AT held up better in that regard.

Speaking of Mousegun -- where'd he get off to?

I'm having the same problem with my polymer Taurus 85. The polymer on one side is getting kind of dinged up. Nothing affecting functionality, but still frustrating.

I want a Beretta Tomcat so I can always have an available firearm in a pocket holster even in light dress trousers.

I should probably go with a P3AT or LCP because .380 is a little better than .32. The Tomcat looks nicer to me, though. Aesthetics counts in some situations. (And yes, someday I will find that woman who asks if I'm wearing my nice gun to the show.) If I wasn't bound by pocket carry, maybe a M&P Shield or single stack Glock/XD/whatever in 9mm would be better.

I carry a 649 J-Frame because I have one and .357 hurts. A tuckable holster would be a big help.

Am I just being too print sensitive? I have a tuckable remora holster for the 360. Still feel like that grip shows up anytime I start moving.

I have:

- Taurus PT738. It's little bitty. I'm self conscious of it in the front pocket of pants. I feel like I'm printing. Fine in cargo pockets. Fine in a back pocket of dress pants with a jacket. It seems to stick out of the top of back jeans pockets. All with a pocket holster. Weight is no big deal.

- KelTec PF-9. It's larger than the Taurus - larger gun, larger pocket holster. It's my daily carry IWB with a cover shirt. It works fine in jeans back pocket with a cover shirt.

- Radom P64. It was the Polish service pistol in 9x18 (secret police?). Heavy. Kicks hard. Accurate. I like it, but I never carry it.
Note to self: start reading sig lines. They're actually quite amusing. :D

No idea... His last posts here were normal ones, and don't offer any clue (unless he was one of those Chris ran off, and deleted their complaints) as to why he dropped off the forum. He's one of the guys I pinged via email through the forum software back in August. I got no response from any of them... I'd have thought I would have heard back from somebody, assuming the email addresses for them in the forum database are correct. Not sure if I am ready to drag out the tinfoil over it, but I should have heard back from one or two of them, at least.

Maybe it's you that they don't like. ;)

Yeah, I met both him, workin' (who I haven't seen in awhile, either), and many others at the unneeded Rapture Party at BE's house.

And a S&W M&P340 is my constant companion in the summer. Even in a front pocket with my gigantic thighs, you have to know what a pocket holster looks like to know what it is. You are using a pocket holster, right?
