The First Anti-Tank Rifle

Forgotten Weapons takes a look at the Mauser 1918 Tank Abwehr Gewehr:

Dang, that looks painful to shoot. 13.2 mm cartridge, ~12,500 foot/lbs muzzle energy.

I've seen those in other places. Fairly interesting weapon, but quickly MEH when offered the opportunity to buy one. IIRC, a 16 gauge shotgun shell will chamber and fire.

Unmolested ones are uncommon, due to the whole DD thing. Most have been rechambered to .50 bmg over the decades.
HTRN, I would tell you that you are an evil fucker, but you probably get that a lot ~ Netpackrat

Describing what HTRN does as "antics" is like describing the wreck of the Titanic as "a minor boating incident" ~ First Shirt
