Sorry, I thought I posted this earlier - I had 10MM AR pistol built by Ron Williams - takes modified grease gun mags, and uses a SIG pistol brace.

Lovely, lovely, gun. Not much recoil, rather quiet, and very handy.

The earlier attempt to use an AR lower, modified to take GLOCK mags didn't work out, but there's some chatter on ARF that the new owners of the design will be fixing it.

I looked up some ballistics, and 460 Rowland looks rathery nifty through a 10" barrel as well - although its closer to a 10MM than I expected.

I've been looking at .460 Rowland as well, but I have a serious hankering for a S&W 325 Thunder Ranch, then getting the cylinders cut for .460 Rowland. Off the cuff, looking at BuffaloBore's ammo, I see their 10mm at 728 ftlbs and their .460 Rowland at 957 ftlbs. Still too close?

reminds me I've got a Norc 1911 sitting that's earmarked for a .400 Corbon barrel. Blame Felix for that going on my bucket list.

Oh, no the 460 Rowland is a different beast in a handgun - I had Clark Custom build one for me - wouldn't entirely endorse Clark, but the caliber's OK.

It was out of a 10" barrel, at least according to ballistics by the inch, that I'm not sure the differences make much sense - other than being able to use unmodified grease gun mags for it.

I wouldn't see a reason for a 325, recut - I have a 329 NG, which would get you a bit more umph if needed, and the ammo is more easily found.

In hindsight, I'd probably get a Coonan, as my main desire for it was as a pig/black bear gun.

I don't know how accurate the numbers are from ballistics by the inch, relative to using them in an AR - and I suspect slower powder might help, considerably, but the 10 and the 460 both got ~900 ft pounds - but the 10 has better SD...

Couldn't find data for a 255 semi wadcutter 460 load - which makes the most sense to me in that caliber.

I forgot about 400 corbon...

And now I'm thinking, that a 460 Rowland, necked down to 357 would be very nifty...

Might be rather annoying in a handgun, but could do "neat" things in a carbine, and would have the bullet selection to take advantage of it...

From Ron Williams, on ARF - "My personal is a 7.5" running 185g HPs @ 1600fps. Powerpistol & Longshot are my choice of propelants. With a 16" tube you will be in the 1800fps range.
1250fps & 1400fps respectively with a 230g HP. I need to get it out for a video."

I need to see if he's run some w. 255. One fellow suggest 45 win mag...

Look into 9x25 Dillon. It's 10mm necked to 9mm. It had a brief period of popularity in IPSC, before the high volume shooters dropped it due to tendonitis. Dies, barrels and data are all readily available from common sources.

It works in non ported guns. It just suffers from severe muzzle flip and recoil.

The idea was to drive a tiny bullet hard, so it makes the compensator on the end of the barrel work better, thus keeping the gun on target - Remember, this was when 38 Super guns in Open were being seriously overstuffed with powder in order to meet Major, which was higher then than it is now. The 9x25 filled this requirement nicely - it would drive 90 grain bullet at better than 2k ft/sec out of a 5 inch gun. It would also break parts with sickening regularity, have a report that was best described as unpleasant, have a reduced round count per mag, and to and injury to insult, some shooters started reporting tendonitis in their wrists and arms. When IPSC reduced Major from 175 to 165, it killed the cartridge in Open.
