Rough Country sights

Awhile ago I had attempted to put a set of meprolight night sights on my 4" S&W 686. Unfortunately, the rear blade never fit well- it wobbled around quite a bit. After the local gunsmith wasn't able to get it to work, I figured I'd just start over with a brand new rear-sight assembly (but I kept the front dot).

I wound up going with the Bowen rough-country rear sight with a target style rear-blade. They were great to deal with, answering my questions quickly and efficiently. The sight arrived last night, and it went on with no issues at all. I didn't use any thread-locker (although I probably should), but even without that, it's a fan more solid feeling sight than either the factory or meprolight. I'm hoping to shoot it soon- right now there's still over a foot of snow in the shale pit that serves as my usual range.

So far, I'm pretty happy with them...the 686 is my favorite pistol, so it's nice having sights on it again. One of the things I've read about the rough-country sights is that they can have a tendency to lose zero, and many of the reviews stated that they had locked their threads after sighting for a particular load. We'll see about that, but if I experience the same problem, I'll need to pick a particular load. I'm hoping not, because the 686 is my "all around" gun...I use it for target shooting, as a woods gun, and would like to try hunting with it. I've even (very rarely) carried it concealed- mostly to prove that I could.

I've had some trouble getting quality pictures, but I'll give it another shot if I get a chance later tonight. Anyone else have a good experience with Bowen? Or thoughts on the best "one load" to dial in for if the need should arrive?

I have a couple (OK, three) Ruger Vaqueros that I would dearly love to have adjustable sights installed on, if I could find a decent set. (Bear in mind that I once had a Colt Combat Commander with S&W K-frame rear sights installed on. It was to die for!!!)

Might talk to the guys at Gallagher's and see what they can do with these.
