I've decided it's time to buy my evil black rifle before the election, and prices shoot up at least 25%. I'm having a hell of a time deciding, and since everyone loves polls....
Requirements:
1:7 barrel
Forward rail for vertical grip
Flat top for eventual ACOG
I really want a folding stock, but the Sabre is on the shelf in a local gun store, the Sig in the configuration I want is not (those iron sights on the sig just aren't going to cut it!) and is possibly a few weeks from restocking.
Thanks in advance.

im thinking that you can build one for $1100 or so
might even be easiest to get a kit, slap on a lower and the replace the barrel with one you like... that will give you a lot more options than you would have just walking into a store.

Get an AK.

config that one the way you want then go out and find a 1:7 barrel... that is probably going to be the hardest thing to find

I have no opinion of either rifle (I don't like the cartridge, but that's your call), but I would not wait until Nov 1 to see if you can get a better deal. If it looks like The Big Zero is going to win, prices will be going up already.

I've been thinking of buying a Sabre Defense M4 tactical upper (full 16 inch barrel, not the 14.5+flashhider) and then a lower and parts kit, but I can't seem to find any online retailers that carry that particular upper.
After reading the "assemble your own AR" guide on AR15.com, I'm tempted to try. I'm pretty handy with mechanical items, and it doesn't seem that difficult with the right tools. (Famous last words...)

Model 1 sales has uppers with 1:7 twist barrels.

Ok let's see here...
Sabre 18" upper with bolt and charging handle, $820
Sabre lower receiver, $130
Bushmaster parts kit, $70
Magpul CTR stock kit, $137
Magpul winter trigger guard, $20
Magpul ergo grip, $20
BUIS, about $200
Total = $1,400 plus tax.
Doh...this poll was supposed to make it easier to decide!

Romanian "G" AK, $489 (NOT a WASR).
Done.
Oh yeah, 30 round mags, $10.75 each.
1000 rounds Wolf, $189.
By my count, you will have plenty left over to still pick up an AR lower or two if you really want, and add parts to complete them later.
