Impressive. Not a very good idea, I think, on the guy's part, but nonetheless impressive.

Re: 1000 round glock 19 torture test
That's a decent day at the range, only 1k?
Can't say about the true "count" but I will say that this poor G-21 takes a beating and looks like hammered dog, well you know.
Glock 21 Torture test
IIRC, Hirtenberger returned an early Glock 17 to Glock that had in excess of 125,000 rounds through it. They traded up to a newer model.
Rumor has it that the "new" 17 is over 300K at last count. Can't verify right now.

Re: 1000 round glock 19 torture test
In the 1,000 round test, using the Glock 19: The guy shooting is a less than safe shooter, and those guys moved in front of the firing line to shoot were being much less than safe. Look at his reply to a post about safety concerns under that video, really full of that macho sense of bravado without any sense of safety or responsibility. For anyone to truly believes that the so called 4 rules are the only worthy rules of firearms safety, well they are just out and out wrong. There were many rules of firearms safety before Cooper abbreviated them to make himself seem like a guru. For anyone to think it is okay to continue shooting when someone on your range has moved in front of the firing line, especially as far out as some of these guys moved (one even was out of sight of the camera he moved so far downrange) well that is just outright irresponsible and idiotic at a range.
As for the test, I like Glocks, just bought a Glock 26; but I'll fire 1,000 rounds through my Beretta 92s without anything melting. Don't get me wrong - I also like the Glock - I own one; it is just that the metal in the Beretta will not melt; and I mean that as a plug for metal guns not as one for Beretta. More on the meltdown later.
As to the failures to feed or extract that he was experiencing, maybe he should have cleaned his gun before trying this test. I have never seen a Glock fail to feed that many times in such a short span of firing it, and those failures started within the first 7 mags while the guys were filming him the first time around from an unsafe area. I would have been much more impressed had the pistol not jammed at all, or had it begun to have had problems after first having shot at least a few hundred rounds. Of course it is possible that the jams were shooter induced since only one shooter had them. I do have to say though that the jams likely were not caused by so called 'limp wristing'. My bet is that his thumb was riding the slide. Look at the video when he switches to left hand two hand grip, at about the 8th or 9th mag. His right thumb appears to be riding the slide. This causes friction and jams, and does so without a doubt. I have seen is time and time again. It is a poor grip style to use if indeed that is what he was doing.
As to the guide rod "melting", and then knowing that is why the guide rod came free, well you have to wonder how he can make that assessment after holding the guide rod in his hand for less than a split second, and then giving it a shorter look over before saying what happened. Cause and effect could well be getting mixed up here. Continuing to fire the gun in that condition was foolish under the circumstances of your life not depending on the gun firing, allowing some one downrange was even more foolish.
As to the mags not coming out properly, that was probably shooter induced. I find it hard to believe a trained shooter is standing there shaking his gun trying to get the mags out and not instead ripping them out with his left hand as many times as he tried to shake them out. (Note to all you self defense types, that is a good way to get yourself killed, as you shake, rattle and roll the bad guy keeps shooting.)
Yeah a Glock is a good pistol - too bad they used such a piss poor method (as in poor range safety) to show it. I am a stickler for range safety. Learn it there and carry it with you wherever you go kind of a thing. I am willing to bet that if any of those guys at that event were at a range, and they had some jerk who kept walking halfway down range while they were shooting they would have given him holy hell; but of course when a range guru does it - then it is apparently okay by them. That attitude only promotes bad habits that can get someone killed. Better to be safe than sorry especially at a range where the shooting environment is supposed to be controlled and SAFE. Just because no one got hurt is no reason to use and continues to use piss poor safety habits. This event would have been just as fun, and just as informative about the Glock, had it been run in a more safe manner.
All the best,
Glenn B

When I look in the mirror, I am happy to see, some of that nine year old boy, who used to be me.

Apparently they don't have a qualified Range Safety Officer..........or one wasn't on duty that day.
POLITICIANS & DIAPERS NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON
A person properly schooled in right and wrong is safe with any weapon. A person with no idea of good and evil is unsafe with a knitting needle, or the cap from a ballpoint pen.
I remain pessimistic given the way BATF and the anti gun crowd have become tape worms in the guts of the Republic. - toad

Or at least none that will admit to it.308Mike wrote:Apparently they don't have a qualified Range Safety Officer..........or one wasn't on duty that day.
...even before I read MHI, my response to seeing a poster for the stars of the latest Twilight movies was "I see 2 targets and a collaborator".
