Carcano makes a neat folding bayonet, but they cost more than the rifle they're designed for.

So, AR ammo and round count, little easier to bag, useful right out of the pack.
AR Folding Stock Adapter

Sure, you have to deploy the stock to fire, but it could solve your transport requirement and should be pretty quick to do.

ETA- Reading the full length, you can apparently get a few rounds off with the stock folded. Neat.

ETA Again- Price is high as a giraffe's ass
That's almost half of what I spent on the AR-15.

While it's only an approximation, my Sub-2k is like that. And it uses the same ammo as my sidearm of choice.

Well not the most useful SBR or such, but it uses the same ammo as my carry pistol

According to reviewers it will feed JHP.
I don't know if it could be converted to full auto or not. 35 rounds of semi-auto would be pretty handy in my opinion.
The folding stock is welded into position. If the poo hit the fan I suppose you could radiac the welds loose.
I'd need to mount some kind of optic sight on it for use as a pistol or a rifle.
The Warsaw pact made a lot of 7.62 x 25 Tok ammo that they claimed was for anti-aircraft use. Supposedly whole units would fill the airspace above them were low flying aircraft were most likely to pass with armor piercing, tracers, incendiaries, and such.

I nearly bought one of the Pps 43Cs a few years ago--they were going for all of $300. The surplus 7.62x25 ammo dried up though, so I passed on it. Rather intriguing gun.

As for the PLR16, as mentioned, mine works fine w/o a stock, just the single point sling. Once adjusted for size, just push out on it until taut, line up the sights and fire away. It is surprisingly accurate.

Kommander wrote:From what I have read the Sig brace situation is even more complicated as they have decided to dive into the murky waters that is "intent". So if you put together a pistol with the Sig brace with the intention to use it properly and then one day decide to shoulder it your have not done anything illegal, but if you intend from day one to use the brace to avoid the $200 tax on SBR's then it's illegal. Good luck sorting that one out.
Yeah the guy that wrote the letter was basically telling them he intended to build an SBR and thumbed his nose at them. Hence the response. Just build a pistol and use the brace as intended.

This strikes me as distinctly un-American.

Of course I haven't heard anyone say, "Well, it's a free country" since before the Watergate break-in, which might be relevant in a general sort of way.
The use of the word "but" usually indicates that everything preceding it in a sentence is a lie.
E.g.:
"I believe in Freedom of Speech, but". . .
"I support the Second Amendment, but". . .
