+1 for Stag too. They dumped a ton of stripped lowers on the local market for pretty close to regular price right before our most recent ban went into effect.
Stag is great quality, and the $600 finished build price is veeeery reasonable. I don't see anything particularly wrong with what you've chosen, either. Shoot it, and if you find something not to your liking, you can easily replace it later and sell the part.
And may I say, from a moral point of view, I think there can be no justification for shoving snack cakes up your action.

If all your looking at is price point the yea, I suppose stag it ok. However I would would not describe them as being quality compared to the likes of Colt, BCM, or even Spikes. Given that one can build a quality AR for $800 I just don't see the point.

Agreed. Stag makes entry-level stuff. Sure, they are okay for a plinker, but that's about it.

Does any manufactor make a "standard" AR15 anymore? Ya know, 20" barrel, standard fixed stock, standard round or triangular hand guards, fixed handle with peep sight, etc?

Armalite does, or did. I read that they're under new management.

Sure, they keep them right next to muzzle loading blackpowder rifles. Seriously though while they are still made the "standard" is now a 16" barreled flat top with an adjustable stock. This allows the shooter to adjust the length of pull to their needs and to fit whatever sights they require, including a fixed rear that's identical to the carry handle sights. As for the barrel at the skill level and especially ranges most shooters shoot at they will not notice any difference between a 20" or 16" barrel so one might as well go for the more compact option.

Most of your 20" barrel ARs are National Match rifles. I have one that isn't. I've got a Daniel Defense 1.5 rear iron sight on it. The rear sight is fixed elevation but windage adjustable. The only elevation adjustments are made on the front sight. I need to go shoot it more. Of course I also need a dedicated .223 progressive press so I can reload hundreds of rounds at a time, too.

I also need to get a set of wood furniture for my 6.8 FUDD-15 build. The problem with that will be making the wood handguard fit properly around the free-float sleeve that I have mounted around the barrel.

I need many things for my ARs.

And someday if a Galil or Valmet just jump into my safe I'll have AKs covered.

My first AR. It sits completely stock in the next room.

I built this one. All parts are available on-line.

The uppers are the only thing to have come out of Northwest Precision Armory's attempt at crowdfunding AR parts.
Forward assists, and ejection port covers from damage industries
I now have the barrels from Red Barn Armory, and will be getting f-height front sight gasblocks from Bravo Company, and will do the drilling, reaming and pinning with a jig from BRDE Engineering. I will likely go back to damage industries for the barrel nuts, delta ring assemblies, gas tubes and gas tube roll pins.
Did you end up getting any of the Teflon vice blocks to assist building or did you wing it on a table mat? Trying to decide if I want to make that investment or not...

I have not yet used any vise blocks, though I have contemplated it. I have been able to use (go ahead and cringe) pipe clamps front and rear on uppers, and a torque wrench. Though I am tempted to double clamp parts with an upper block and a reaction rod.

I have a bad habit of building these things, then deciding to sell them off for some other project, then building them again.
