As someone who had the first shot through his brand new suppressor hit the damn endcap, have someone do it on a lathe, and make sure they do it right. My FAL was threaded supposedly so that I could install a suppressor later on, but it clearly was not. When I put the suppressor on it now and look down the barrel I see the end cap (unless it's turned just right where I see the dent I made on shot number one). In retrospect, I should've looked down the barrel first before taking a shot, and now I do that with all new suppressors/gun combos. :)

Coincidentally enough, just last weekend picked up my .45 Octane. It was ordered a year ago November, but due to some shenanigans the paperwork was not submitted by the dealer until May. (!!!) I have not fired it yet, but plan to next weekend. I still have not found a threaded barrel for my Witness (but I have not really been looking too hard), but I do have one for my USP, so that's what I'll try out first. My wife's grandfather is visiting, so all out free time is spent with him, and he's not into shooting. Plus, everything I own is "illegal in Massachusetts" and I get sick of hearing that. No shit it's illegal there, grandpa, that's why I'm not there and I'm here in Texas.

Yea, I dropped off the barrel with Morgan of class3machining.com in Rowett a few days ago, and will pick it up when I finish my trip at work and post some pictures.

As an aside, when I first started reading about barrel threading a long time ago on silencertalk, folks always suggested running a dowel through the can and bore before you shoot a new setup to ensure you are aligned, and I plan to do that with all the guns I'm going to run suppressed.

Aaaand five years later, I finally got it threaded. Admittedly since I didn't have the supressors on order until now, it wasn't really a priority. The Storm Lake thread protector I purchased fits correctly with no slop. Now I just have to wait another month or so for my stamps to come in.
