I take back my previous post. Put a Glock 43 on layaway today. The thinner profile means I'm far more likely to carry it compared to my S&W 340, which (probably because I'm a skinny bastard) is uncomfortable and likes to print, IWB or in a pocket.
The caveat is, since funds are tight, im forcing myself to quit skoal to pay for it. Win-win.

Your teeth and gums will thank you, and your wife/girlfriend/etc will appreciate that your breath is cleaner.

+1 on the "Atta boy" for quitting tobacco.
Already talked to HH6 about possible gun buying, and am set on picking up at least one if not two stripped lowers as soon as I can get my hands on them. Parts kits can be sorted out later, but I want the serial-numbered parts on hand ASAP. Double-checked on the VA state website and called the local shop I'm going to purchase said lowers from, and orders to the Pentagon + Mil ID mean I'm good to go for all purchases here. Thank God.

Re: The Panic Buying Thread
So, after checking my strategic reserves, I find that I have way more gunpowder than I thought I had (Is it bad that I forgot about a keg or two?)
Good thing it's kept in a detached workshop. I might be light on primers a little, but still have many thousands of various types.
I'm down to about 1100# of mixed caliber brass and 3000# of various lead ingots and scrap lead.
Supposed to be picking up a couple buckets of wheel weights from my buddy at the used tire place.
I was thinking about some PMAG AK-mags. However I found an East German pouch full of unissued mags so i think I won't bother.
Only thing I might want is some more Circle-10 or Weiger 5.56 AKM mags.

I saw in this morning's PSA email ad that the 30 rd aluminum GI mags for ARs has gone from $6.99 to $8.99. Demand must be up.

PSA's pricing scheme is wonky in the best of times. Watch the Full Auto Profile BCG. I've seen it change back and forth over the course of a single day from $79 to $89, back to $79, etc.

I think the panic buying may be geographical area concerned and I think the panic buying is for noobies who buy complete guns. It may not hit people who put together their own.

Two sequentially serialed Bushmaster stripped lowers and one CMMG parts kit in hand. Going to do at least one as a pistol build. We'll see how this parts kit does and go from there. Shop guy said they'd sold 100 lowers in the past two days when I called yesterday to confirm paperwork requirements. Between then and when I walked in at 5pm today, they had sold all but three of the 20 others they had on hand. They still had some at higher price points, but i'd expect even most of those will be gone by the end of the weekend. He said it hasn'the been so much 'panic buying' as it was "yeah, I should probably pick a couple of these up before it gets stupid again".

From my reading (anecdotal, of course), I agree. A lot of peeps all across the US are reporting complete EBRs are flying off the shelves. Which is a good thing. That means those with little experience w. the platform are buying in droves. For those of us who are builders, there are still a lot of deals out there. But who knows how long that will last. If another shit storm happens in the next month or so, expect illegal Executive Action to take place.toad wrote:I think the panic buying may be geographical area concerned and I think the panic buying is for noobies who buy complete guns. I'll confess to ordering another 500 rounds of 77gr 5.56 ammo...the IMI Mk262 clone load.
