I'm happy to kick in when I can for such a project, especially when it's "for the children".

FastRope has suggested we probably need to call it something like the Container of Accuracy or the Cube of Honesty just so we can stay clean. Be sure to pitch in with any other suggestions for the name. (Like you all need any encouragement)

Have you considered just making a ballistic pendulum? Appropriate bearing at the apex and you could gather some data from your experiments.

Wouldn't a chronometer allow you to determine the same thing? Are you trying to see how much energy is expended by destruction of the bullet/deformation of the target?
