Well my friend brought the gun to work today. It's a 29-2 with the pined barrel. I would say that the finish is 99% it is very clean. He sais that he picked it up at a gunshow a few years back just for the hell of it and has only shot it a few times.
He does want to sale it because he really doesn't need it and has not shot it in a long time.
Now if I can get him to tell me what he wants for it. We looked on gunbroker yesterday and I did point out to him that most of the 29's priced over $600 had no bids on them.
I'm going to take some pic's and try and post them tonight after I get home.

Thanks for the info.

The brand of the solvent isn't as important as where it's used, how much and used for how long. The info from Hoppes probably applies to ANY gun-cleaning solvents designed to remove copper, lead and powder residue on nickel or chrome plated firearms.

That's spot on. Too many folks either don't understand or don't know that the history on GunBroker shows all of the prices, bids or not. My experience is that the vast majority of the listings are for guns that had NO bids.

Shockingly, there's a coupla "Pre 29" 4 screw 44 mags(55-57) up on Gunbroker, 1 has no bids with a start at $1600ish and no reserve, and the other a 1200ish start with no bids but with a reserve.

They're fantastic guns, quite possibly the finest fitted mass market DA revolvers ever made, but they are in a way "too nice to shoot". :( I'd much rather find a cheap dash model 29 and work it over, considering that most of the really good tricks for them are covered in depth in the various kinks books.

I am not real big on shiny gun finishes like stainless, chrome, or nickel. However if someone offered that gun to me for $600 I would do whatever was necessary to get raise the money to purchase it. Even if it was just so I could resell it later as a greatly enhanced price.

Well if I were not committed financially right now I would snap it up. The S&W forum is a good place to sell it though.
