I did all my panic buying in 2013 due to state legislation. Bought a FAL, a Fulton M-14, and a couple of ARs....and a Pardini SP.

Been panic buying for 6 months in anticipation of the election. Got caught with my pants down here in CT post Sandy Hook. Not going to make that mistake again.

There is supposed to be a grandfathering clause - you can keep your guns, but probably not use or sell them. Here in Belgium, there is a constitutional prohibition on the confiscation of private property without prior compensation. As the Belgian state has no money, they never pay the compensation. Folks who, following the 2006 gun ban, insisted on compensation prior to confiscation still have their guns... folks who didn't, don't. Of course, the police did their very best to intimidate and browbeat people into surrending their property "voluntarily" and without a receipt, with the result that many lost their guns and got no compensation either. To add insult to injury, plenty of the guns "voluntarily" submitted for destruction vanished, only to turn up afterwards in private sales and auctions abroad.

This time it'll be "come and take them!".

On the "get immediately" list, in order of priority:
A Swiss Sturmgewehr 57 and lots of magazines
A SIG 551 or 556 assault rifle and lot and lots of magazines (I never wanted a poodleshooter, but if they're banning, I'm buying).
An AK47 (same comment as for the poodleshooter)
An FN SCAR (ditto)
An AR-15

On the "get if I still can and I have any money left" list, in no particular order:
Another Uzi and lots of magazines
Another VZ58
A FAL
A CZ Skorpion
A .22 Gatling gun
A Maxim machine gun
Hey Denis, I stopped being a "collector" and began my own S4 shop about 10 years ago. One-off collector guns got sold at collector prices and additional ARs, magazines and parts started accumulating.

A few years ago, I got into an argument with a brother regarding FALs vs. G3s. The result of which is all my FALs, magazines, parts, etc. are all at that brother's house. If I happen to be at that brother's house when SHTF, I'll have to dust off the cobwebs on a FAL manual of arms, but the memory channels run deep on that one.

I'd recommend picking a platform and getting multiples of that platform. Then get many multiples of magazines, parts and ammo for that platform.

In the US, we can complain about the inadequacies of the M16/M4, but that is still the main combat arm of the US military (50 years and counting). Parts and accessories are ubiquitous, and there are many who are well trained in its manual of arms.

In Switzerland, StGw 57s and StGw 90s are everywhere. Not so much anyplace else. I consider them to be the best battle rifle and assault rifle ever made. I have a SIG PE 57 and a SIG 550. Those are two "collector" guns I haven't been able to part with yet. But I haven't put down the stupid "collector" prices to meet my "minimum 2 each" rule, nor do I have what I consider to be a "combat ready" supply of magazines for either.

I don't know what is readily available in Belgium, but I would recommend picking what is "relatively" available and getting vast quantities.

When the mujehedeen run (more) rampant in Belgium, and your brother-in-law who is covering your six yells that he is out, you don't want to throw him a SIG 550 mag for the FN SCAR that is in his hands.

Just ordered a rifle kit and a blemed lower from Palmetto State. Mildly surprised that they weren't sold out yet, so perhaps there's not as much panic this time.

I was in Wally World earlier today and wandered through the sporting goods to see what was up. No crowds, nobody but me and the sales girl. I bought 120 rounds of American Eagle 5.56 55 grain, just for shits and giggles. Plenty of ammo on the shelves. I figure if a panic was going to happen, it would have already commenced.

I tend to wait until after the panic is over to buy the stuff that people bought during the panic with money they could not afford to spend.
You should always be prepared. Pre Panic buying is the way to go.
In the last six months I have been stocking up. Here are a few things I have picked up.
1000 rounds of 12ga ammo
4000 rounds of 22lr ammo
4000 rounds of 9mm
4400 rounds of 5.56
1000 rounds of 40S&W
2 complete AR build kits
2 complete AR uppers
20 stripped AR lowers
4 AR upper build kits
And a shit load of AR parts/ enough to build 2 complete ARs with parts to spear
I also have 8 AR rifles in the safe.
