The ammunition manufacturers, collectively, are putting most of their raw materials into centerfire stuff, which has a 25-100% markup, vs. .22 rimfire, which has <2%.

My store has at least 8 types of 22lr in stock. 2 in subsonic, 5 in standardish velocities and some stingers. Some are available in case quantities. It exists, just not everywhere.
