Oh no, they're multiplying...

I'll be on travel so BAG comes early this year and am doubling down. This one is for certain softer shoulders in the household but you can bet I'll give it some exercise too. Liberated this one in minty condition from NJ.

Browning Gold Hunter 20ga, 28" removable choke, 3" chamber.

My BAG came early too. Matching Ruger Vaqueros in .45 Long Colt.

One for me, and one for my lady. We're getting into Cowboy Fast Draw, the wax bullet variety, and we're having a ball. She won her first match last Saturday, by simply hitting more targets than the other gal. (In this game, speed is good, but only hits count.) We're going to our first match in April, to the Texas State Championship. It's a great excuse for a weekend away.

Of course, the lady thinks it's a wardrobe opportunity, and she's been buying western wear for the April trip.

Bought an old model Vaquero 45 Colt (5 1/2") about 8-9 years ago. Firesale price on an estate piece or something. Figured I'd put a cylinder or two through it then flip it.

How wrong I was. Got hooked on 45 Colt I did. My favorite round to reload. Since it's the old model with Blackhawk frame it can handle everything from 200gr poppers to full "Ruger" load data heavy jacketed and hard cast boolits. I settled back at standard loads though to keep from bouncing the muzzle off the overhead in the indoor shooting lane booth. About 8 - 8.5 grains of Unique under a 255gr SWC is suits me just fine..

I am probably preaching to the choir here, BUT! just in case some of out members are unaware:

GET THAT GUN AS FAR AWAY FROM THAT CASE AS POSSIBLE! Those types of cases destroy gun finishes.

Oh, yeah, Yogi, I separated the gun from the case shortly after the photo was taken.

My lady decided that those rosewood grips didn't fit her hand, so we've made some changes. A nice pair of gunfighter grips, sanded smooth, and painted turquoise. Because it's her gun. Here's what it looks like now.

That's what we call "distinctive". T hey fit her hands and her personality. Now, she's looking for a turquoise shirt to complement the grips.

Oh, and she's shooting in the low 1s, which means she's putting a bullet on the target in just about a second, from the holster. This fast draw stuff has helped her gun-hand skills quite a bit.

Buy some frock tape, soft foam tape or felt tape and lay it on all the contact points between the case and the firearm and they do just fine. I keep my Ruger in one and it has zero marks after 12+ years.

Do NOT ever let my wife see those grips!!!! I've got so many gun projects going already that I'm busier than a man with two snakes and one hoe. The last thing I need is for her to see something that she "needs" that will involve more work for me!!!

But do congratulate Milady for me, on her progress. That's pretty impressive, especially for someone who hasn't been doing it very long. (Honestly, I know some local LEOs who would have a hard time keeping up with her.)
But there ain't many troubles that a man caint fix, with seven hundred dollars and a thirty ought six."

Of course the real fun starts when the ladies start wanting to enter the balloon busting from horse back events.
