Our HD shotgun is a 20 ga. Mossberg 500, youth model, since that fits The Boss, and I can manage it. The only modification, other than removing the mag plug, was to wrap a one-inch wide piece of white reflective tape around the barrel, about one inch back from the muzzle. It's really impressive how little light it takes to make that tape clearly visible, and one always knows where the muzzle is.

What kind of load do you have in the 20 gage?

2.75" standard velocity #4 Buckshot. The theory is that if slugs are needed, then rifle is needed, not a shotgun.

It is, but it's hard to find #1 buck in 20 gauge. Whereas #4 buckshot is everywhere in that gauge.

You can mail order shotgun shells, but that can get expensive. Again if I had a shotgun and had won the lottery, for house and apartment defense with close neighbors I would try the Federal Black Cloud #4 steel shot. The shot has sharp ridges that promote cutting and bleeding.

I would like to see a tritium insert for 9/11 handles. Like a skull or something. Make the gun easy to grip in the black of night.

I would like to see some sort of glow in the dark insert for 1911 grips. Perhaps a button sized icon that can be placed into the grip aftermarket, to make finding and properly grasping the firearm easier in the dark of night.

A 20-gauge 3/4 oz. load of #4 buckshot has 16 pellets of .240 diameter. A 3/4 oz. load of #1 buckshot has 8 pellets of .300 diameter. The #4 also seems to pattern better in the I/C-choked barrel.

And, as noted, you can find #4 buckshot in 20-gauge just about anywhere. Don't remember the last time I saw #1s.
