Thanks guys.

I will go haunt silencertalk and see what they know.

I am thinking monocore, but need to do the research to see what is most efficient and why. I like the why as much as anything else.

I would like to point out that centerfire rifle is about the hardest to home build, probably only exceeded by full auto cans.. So try not to be "innovative" on your first try..

For .22LR subsonic, an oil filter works pretty well. The adapter can be made out of delrin in a few minutes on a lathe.

What you want is a "Solvent Trap" adapter...to screw an oil filter on the end of your barrel to catch any oily patches or solvent that might run out the barrel from cleaning it, don't you know.

Lawnmower mufflers should not be overlooked when in a pinch.

Yep.
And may I say, from a moral point of view, I think there can be no justification for shoving snack cakes up your action.

A suppressor can get very sophisticated...as in doctoral thesis in Aerospace Engineering complex. Right now, it's mostly empirical design, due to the complexity of computational fluid dynamics modeling of highly turbulent non-steady-state flow.

I found this very heavy picture dominated thread and the info sent over by Whilibird.

I have lots of things to look at now and influence my designs. :D

Easy DIY suppressor, just wrap a jihadi around the muzzle. Does not last very long though.

With all the appropriate irony possible.

RACIST, MCRACIST.

having said that, Jihadi are not exactly convenient to carry around. If alive, I have to listen to random outbursts of "allah akbar". If dead, they start to stink (even worse) pretty soon.
