I'm going to be the one to warn you, do not build your own AR!

Flintlock don't take this the wrong way but that A2 and the (I assume) Ironwood are sexy but what the hell is the second from bottom? It um.. Is very unique.

Yup. To be "allowed" to have a normal mag release in CA one cannot have any "evil features" like a pistol grip or "collapsible" stock.
I agree it's ugly, but, it's surprisingly ergonomic.
I did it just to see what the fad was about.
Before the end of the year it will be parted out and made into a more traditional form.
If time, chance and random process can produce a platypus why not an ammo tree?
I've been surfing around Midway, Arf.com, and YouTube. With a few basic tools, this looks like it's going to be fairly easy. I can see that it might be nice to have a dedicated toolbox for my AR tools.

If you aren't going to build the upper then the only tools you really need for the lower are (my recommendations and worth what you paid for them):
1. Roll Pin Starter
2. Roll Pin Punches
3. Small Soft Hammer
4. Tape (to shield the finish when you install the bolt release pin)
I also like this trigger guard but it is a luxury not a necessity.

Also, do yourself a favor and order an extra set of small parts for your lower. If you don't launch at least one detent you are doing it too well!
