Re: Need advice.....stat!
I'm still sitting here twitching. I've been going over reloading guides and component sites for the last several hours and figuring out just how much I'm going to end up spending on the gun, reloading kit and components.

I suggest the 454. 454 is what the 44 mag wants to be when it grows up, and 45 Colt is simple to find

.454 IMO just downright hurts... even with a recoil absorbing grip my hand felt like i had slapped it against concrete hard...

Okie dokie, you guys convinced me. 454 casull it is.
The seller has agreed to let me pay it off over the next 45 days, so I was able to get some reloading supplies while midway was offering special pricing.
I gotta tell you, the wait is going to be a bit on the agonizing side. Anybody need a cz52 or a G3 so I can bring this thing home faster?
I hear you Mekender, That's how CC's felt. I think that I won't have to worry about that too much with the added weight of the scope, and the fact that i can tailor my loads to be "just right". Heavier than a 45LC, but not hypersonic 395 gr bruisers either.
I ordered a variety of XTP bullets in 240gr, 250 gr and 300 gr. The seller is including 50 bullets from freedom arms in 260gr, and 200 peices of brass. I'll get 400 rounds out of that, and I should have a good idea what the hell I am doing by then.

Dude, I wish I was available to return your call, sorry. As single action guns go, go for it. You have my .45 lc and .454 dies there already, so don't order anymore! I think you will be well served by either. I have brass and bullets too, and some loaded stuff so you can shoot it sooner.

I say go for the 454. I have five, and love the cartridge.
* A 8" SRH
* A BFR
* A 5" Freedom Arms 83
* A 8" Freedom Arms 83
* A 16" Puma mod. 92
Of the five, the SRH is my least favorite. That's not to say it isn't a fine gun. If you're serious about buying, I'd let you have mine for less than the price you mentioned above. It comes with 3-point mount and a Leupold scope. You'd have to do the FFL dance though ....

Re: Need advice.....stat!
I ended up capping out on the deal, sort of. I was still awake at 5:30 this morning and had sent him an email saying that hthe .44 made more sense to me, and that I'd go with that one instead. That was around 3: 30. Then at 5:30 I realized I was tired enought to not be thinking clearly, and asked him to send me an email with his phone number so I could discuss the two guns and get a better idea of what I wanted to settle on. I think he may have decided that I'm too flaky to deal with. That's okay. I had an epiphany as I was passing out that perhaps the reason I was so conflicted was that I was trying to fill a gap that doesn't exist for me.
I really don't need a hand cannon right now. There, I said it. Happy now? Me either. It is true, though. I have all the guns my family needs to do anything we can afford to do at the moment. With so many other things that are more deserving of my financial attention, it's probably best that i let that dog lie, for little while longer.

Could be a good decision in the end. I do think every man ought to have at least one hand cannon, if nothing but for car slaying duties while driving. Keep it in the glove box why don't cha?
