CC is using the original title. The one you're using is the pronunciation of a lead singer too drunk/stoned to sing it the way it was originally written.Jered wrote:Actually, the song is 'In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida.'

...even before I read MHI, my response to seeing a poster for the stars of the latest Twilight movies was "I see 2 targets and a collaborator".

Bingo! I heard the story 25 years ago from an old recording technician who claimed to have been there "back in the day".

I went to one of thier concerts at the Hollywood Bowl in about 1970. Probably the only one there that wasn't stoned. Funny as hell, they just got the song started and the drummer's foot pedal fell apart. Took him about 2 minutes to get everyones attention, rebuild his foot pedal and get started over.CombatController wrote:randy wrote:CC is using the original title. Now that you mention it, it does sound in In the Garden of Eden.randy wrote:CC is using the original title. The one you're using is the pronunciation of a lead singer too drunk/stoned to sing it the way it was originally written.Jered wrote:Actually, the song is 'In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida.'

What a dumb ass, but the "in the garden of eden" tid bit is interesting to know.

Another tidbit: In-a-Gadda-da-Vida lasts for approximately 19 miles (by the map) as you drive through Kansas searching for a blizzard as an alternative to staying on campus waiting for the police to come find you and ask about your previous night's hijinks (where is Eugene, by the way?).
And, CC, I think your linked article might be one of the few places I've seen the word "mondegreen" used. I've almost given up using it myself because no one knows it.

Note to self: start reading sig lines. They're actually quite amusing. :D

Yeah, lots of folks don't use the language to it's fullest extant.
Eugene is here, just posting under some other handle or something... Eu1776 or some such nonsense. I will let you know when I come across him next....
