Goodies from the CMP

Post by John_in_Longview »

My dad and I made the trip to the CMP South Store in Anniston, Alabama last Friday.

I was looking to get either a 1903 or a P17. I purchased a 1943 Remington M1903A3 with an original barrel and orginal bolt. The throat and muzzle wear are minimal.

My father purchased an M1 in the newest grade, Custom Shop Special. These rifles have refinished stocks, trigger work, and new, competition barrells. They are supposed to fire in the 1 to 2 MOA range. I was told that the CMP normally fires one round through a rifle before they sell it. For these M1's they fire 12. Each rifle comes with the business card of the CMP armorer who build it.

Ooh, that 1903A3. Always a good choice!

Nice!
...even before I read MHI, my response to seeing a poster for the stars of the latest Twilight movies was "I see 2 targets and a collaborator".

The best time to shop is when the store opens, as they don't always restock during the day. There are often people in line before the store opens at 8:00. There are several good hotels only 10 minutes from the store.
