LaRue barrel sale

Post by Rich Jordan »

Larue is having another barrel sale.

Stealth barrels
PredatAR barrels

Also for those with arfcom accounts, they are giving away a barrel each day to posters in this contest topic

Thanks for posting, I was actually looking for a 1/8 5.56 barrel to build an upper. I've heard nothing but good things about Larue products, does anyone have experience with their barrels?

The one barrel I have is pretty; the machining is beautiful, the bore is flawless as far as I can tell. But its still just a part waiting for the rest, so no actual use experience, sorry. I bought an MBT (their premium trigger, also on sale but backordered) and it is amazing. Best one I've ever dry fired, though again I'm no expert.

Hopefully after May I'll have what I need to complete that build and actually try it!

Do they rifle their barrels themselves, or do they outsource?

I did some Googling to find some people that had purchased their barrels, from what other people have said they are Lothar-Walther barrel blanks that LaRue rifles themselves. But that's like fifth-hand info, so take it for what it's worth. :D

i read an anecdote on another (non-gun) forum that said his LaRue shot all over the place, and he was told by the head of business development at LaRue that you have to run FGMM 77gr ammo or 77SMK ammo to FGMM specs in order to get decent groupings.

And that Mark LaRue has sued/threatened to sue sites that print less than flattering things about LaRue...

anyone else heard this? It was news to me.

I'm not sure about the first part.

But I am certain that the second parts are less than true. Remember the Nutnfancy episode where he got a LaRue, then drilled out the gas port and blamed the rifle?
