Have you considered a Ruger Charger pistol? Either the full pistol or the takedown model? A pistol version of the Ruger 10/22. Comes with a hard case, bipod, and optics rail already mounted. Because of the weight, there is almost no recoil making easy follow up shots. MSRP of either type is under $500. Accuracy is outstanding under 50 yards.

This one is for sale on Gunbroker right now. Apparently unfired. Auction price starting at $300. Link

I have a first gen Charger, paid all of $200 for it when they first came out. It is very accurate--I have a Nikon extended eye relief scope on mine, works very well. It is a bit unwieldy, though. Perhaps the new ones with the different grip and stock handle better.

To everyone else, a [strike]J framed[/strike] I-framed .22 will always be the kit gun, regardless of what material they make the frame out of..

There's one in every crowd... I did almost mention the I frame but figured people would understand what I meant.

They moved to the j-frame 10 years or so before we were born. Leave the crusty oldsters to their lonely pedantic crust.

I have a few 22 handguns.
Sig-Sauer Mosquito Sport. Great shooter but you better feed it CCI Mini Mags if you want it to run 100%
Ruger Mark I & II. Great guns
Ruger Super Single Six. Fiest handgun I bought , back in the 80's. I love the gun but have put less then 100 rounds through the magnum cylender.
S&W 22A. Great shooter.
Kimber 1911/22 upper on a Rock Island frame. I love this little gun.
Two single actions, one is FIE and the outer from someone else, but both made by the same Co, in Germany who made the Colt New Frontier.
High Standard Sport King. Be ready to spend $50 plus on good magazines.
High Standard Flight King (22 short only)
I may have one ot two more.
If I had to pick another, maybe the Ruger 22/45 or a Buck Mark.
I would like to get a DA wheel gun but a 4" Taurus starts around $400.

I forgot to mention that I got Dad's High Standard Dura-Matic M100 when he passed, haven't shot it yet, but it looks interesting.

Haha. I love it! If I recall well, you have a few .22 rifles too :-)

Off the top of my head, I think I own
A Browning Buck Mark
An FN Concours 150
A Walther GSP
Two S&W Mod. 17 revolvers, 6" and 4" barrels
A Brno .22 4" barrel revolver
A Ruger Mk I
A .22 single-shot swing-barrel Colt "Lord".

I really like the old Browning / FN pre-BuckMark target pistols, and am keeping my eye out for the Medalist and International models to complete the series.

I also have a couple of Walther OSPs and some Colt Huntsman pistols in the safe, which I am looking after for the gunclub.

Looking at my list, I see I should get a snub-nose .22 revolver and some kind of small pocket pistol to round out the collection.

Maybe an NAA Mini Revolver to fill in the chinks in your collection, Denis?

All I own is a 617 and a .22lr conversion kit for the 229. This thread is going to get expensive for me!
