Thell Reed, there is a name I haven't thought of in a long time. Last I remember he'd joined the Marines, I think they ended up using him to teach point shooting?

A few years ago, he and Phil Spangenberger were doing a re-creation of the Buffalo Bill Wild West Show, complete with all manner of fast and fancy gun handling.

The thing I remember that even when he became older he still looked very young. I think one guy said, "I feel like I got my ass whupped by the kid on the cover of MAD magazine."
He's gray haired now and I feel very, very, old.

A ways back, we were shooting cowboy matches at the Prado Olympic Shooting Park, and waiting for us to finish were all manner of almost-old-enough to shave San Berdoo SWAT studs, getting all kitted up with their MP5s and such.
As one old fart finished a stage, dumping ten rounds of .45LC into an array of metal targets, one of the PD puppies said "Hey! They're using semi-autos! I thought this was cowboy stuff!"

Whereupon we invited him to walk over closer, and have a look for himself.
As a grandpa two-handed 10 rounds downrange in about 7 seconds (some people I've shot with only take about 4)with two different handguns before switching to long arms.

Walking back, the chastened cop opined, "Damn! I'm glad they're on our side."
