The Johnson Rifle

Post by toad »

I remember as a young lad advertisements for these rifles in "The American Rifleman" you could order them direct by mail order for a price my mind will no longer let me remember because there was a brief window of time in which I could have afforded one and purchased it.
Anyway there was a video on The Firearms Blog about field stripping one and a brief history.

I like the idea of a semi-auto that fired the crunchy goodness of a .30-06 round in a ten round magazine. You would load with two 5 round stripper clips. They tended to distribute their fire in vertical string, but at close range I wouldn't care. You could top off with individual rounds if I remember or put as many as you could get in off a stripper clip for a combat reload.

You need to come visit us at Rumpshot's Revenge. My neighbor has a Johnson and allows us to shoot it.

Very interesting rifle.

I, personally, would prefer to keep my hands off some other man's Johnson. :?

I thought about what would it take to make a Johnson in 5.56 Nato. But decided it would be hard to sell a Mini-Johnson. Except to those who liked the convenience of Mini-Johnson and weren't to embarrassed to let the ladies know they had one. A carbine for Fappers as opposed to Preppers.
