I have two Star Megastar pistols. One in .45 ACP and one in 10mm. They work OK, but the biggest PITA is finding magazines. I seem to score one magazine per every 10 ELGSs.

Buffer pads need to be replaced about every thousand rounds or so. I run one on my baby Kimber, because it's a aluminum frame, and I'm trying to make it last 20K rounds or so.

That may explain why I buy buffer pads in lots of five, and reorder when I get down to two in the pack.
