Why haven't I seen this before

Post by Durham68 »

I just ran into a Ruger M44 for the first time. How have I not heard of this gun before? Anyone know if it's any good?

They're okay. Downside is they're tube fed vs the.later deefield carbines.

Have a co-worker that's been running one for deer hunting for 20+ years. Seems to work pretty well for him, although he probably doesn't shoot it 50 times in a season, including sighting in and messing about at deer camp. Keeps a freezer full of venison, if that tells you anything.

I kind of like tube magazines. I only wish the tube was a bit longer.

I found one on gunbroker for $599. Have to look around to see if that is a good price.

Dandy little carbine. Just the ticket in tight PNW coastal jungle when after blacktail.

I've seen them at local gunshows for $600 or more, including a couple that looked like they were dragged there behind the truck. Never seen one last past noon on Sunday.

Its a brush gun that is very popular in places where they allow pistol caliber carbines for deer hunting.

No bids at $700, then he lowered it to $600 and still no bids. Yet. Gonna wait to see if he lowers it one more time.
