I'd say go for the PTR at CDNN, mine runs like a top and eats anything. It does mangle brass, though. I got mine for $600, then dressed it up some:

Yup. It's been a real POS. It's going back, again, to be fixed. If it comes back, and is safe, it's going for sale.CombatController wrote:AG, you have one of these rifles?

You, sir, are a firearms aficionado. I only have its Egyptian clone, the Hakim. It looks good and shoots well, but it is not a LjungmanDarrell wrote: Well, at least I did get my Ljungman.

In terms of the cheapest of the cheap (yet still serviceable), what's the best deal on AR lowers?

IN MY OPINION, Spike's Tactical ST-15 stripped lower is $105 (+S&H, FFL xfr fees, etc) is your best best at high-end milspec quality for rock-bottom prices. It's what's in my safe.In terms of the cheapest of the cheap (yet still serviceable), what's the best deal on AR lowers?
And may I say, from a moral point of view, I think there can be no justification for shoving snack cakes up your action.

Cool. I take it there's no machining work to be done on it, simply slap on the other parts, right?
Seems to be completely finished, according to the website.

Yes, Dub, it's a stripped lower receiver (that is, it comes without butt stock, grip, or lower parts kit), but it has a great deep finish on it without burrs or any need to modify it in any way to accept whatever you want to put on it. You're right: no machining or alteration of any kind needs to be done.

Re: Thinking about an EBR...recommendations?
For the record, I'm currently taking D5CAV's advice...not buying another rifle, but stocking up on ammo and magazines for what I currently have. I don't shoot rifle enough to make a new one worthwhile, no matter how sexy it may be - although I might snag a CMP Garand and/or carbine purely as an investment. The day the CMP runs out of Garands, the price will double overnight.
