Got a question about a Webley...

Post by Wrenchbender1 »

Is it possible to convert a "Tanker" Webley to a double action just by changing out the hammer and other small parts or would it be a fairly in depth procedure?

IIRC, it's just the hammer itself.
But depending on how much fitting the hammer and sear sa/da will need is the big issue.

Finding one would be the bigger issue.

I'm a little confused.

I thought all the DA only "Tanker" models were made by Enfield. And if I recall (it's been years since I took one apart) there was no way to convert them to SA/DA.

I'll root around and see if I can find some reference on the subject. Will post again if I find something.

The Enfied "Tanker" No2 Mk1's had their SA sear notch ground off (or not cut originally) and the hammer spur removed/not furnished.

Enfield DA hammer

However you might want to jump on this...

FWIW, I've had a Webley MkIV .38, in the rougher "War Finish" for years. It's a real fun gun at the range.
