I bought a batch of once fired 9mm brass from

My order was for 1000 rounds, once fired, unpolished priced at $48 including priority shipping.

The order shipped in two days and arrived three days later. Not bad.
I chose unpolished to save $10 and because I figured I would retumble it anyway.
BIG MISTAKE.
Pay the $10. about 20% of the brass looks like it was recovered from a clay swamp. DIRTY
but that is my mistake not theirs. Of course it was all shipped in the same bag, so...

What I received.
1035 brass 9mm cases of various headstamps 4 of which were obviously physically ruined
17 aluminum 9mm cases with FC something or other headstamp -- worthless
3 .22 LR cases

So considering I ordered 1000 and they gave me 1031 that on VERY casual inspection should work, I have no complaints. But next time I will GLADLY pay the $10 extra for polished cases

I haven't done a time (efficiency) check on tumbling, but I put them in before work and they are CLEAN when I get home. Nice bright and shiny.

A few still look like the lacquered steel ones but they pass the magnet test. Is that just discoloration or is that an issue I need to pay attention to?

If it ran all day, shouldn't discoloration have polished out?

I woulda thought so...

They are nice and clean, but instead of that bright kinda gold color they are a ruddy brown color. Nice and shiny brown, but not anything like new looking brass.

I haven't counted the quantity but I am guessing about 5% are like this.
I don't care about the color, just wanting to make sure there isn't another issue. Sorta like not using the aluminum ones.

If you have any that are questionable, just toss 'em. They are a nickel apiece! Why sweat it?

I know I know I know.... I had to relearn how not to be stingier than Scrooge McDuck myself.
Really, just like paying for the processing, tossing the ones that just aren't right won't matter a spoonful of beans worth in the end.
