what kind of brass is this?

Post by Precision »

Found this at the range the other day.

The bottom part is standard brass, the top part is some kind of plastic or composite.

It reminds me of the semicaseless stuff they use in the 120mm smoothbore on tanks.. First time I've seen it down that small..

I have some similar .308 plastic cased stuff. The gun shop was selling it as low velocity indoor practice ammunition. Accuracy is supposed to be OK to 100yds.

That's been my experience with the stuff. Necks tearing off and staying in the chamber, and being able to pull the bullet out of the case with just finger pressure. Not yet ready for prime time.

Head stamp is different, but yeah, looks like the same stuff.
As this was range find cases, I can't attest to how it works at all.
