Privi reloading bullets for hunting

Post by Vonz90 »

Looking at these in .323 170 gr for my Mauser hunting loads. I usually use Remington core-lokt, but they are like hens teeth these days.

I am not worried about their quality per se, more if is a strong enough bullet construction for hunting. Most likely just for white tail but I might also be planning a pig hunt.

I have read in different places that (some of?) the S&B 8mm bullets are more for target and not suitable for hunting.

Anyone have experience with the Privi?

The shooting cinema at which I train uses the Privi loaded ammunition for indoor practice rounds. It's relatively inexpensive, and doesn't wreck their backstop. Accuracy is not spectacular, and I suspect that the bullets are rather soft and frangible, especially compared to the Core-Lokt.

Midway is showing Hornady Interlocks in stock at the moment, along with a few other bullets that may be suitable. I would go with the Hornady's before either PRVI or Core-lokt for hunting.

The Hornady's are round nose and I want a spittzer. I found some Sierras that were a few bucks more than the Privis and went with them.

Sorry, I hadn't noticed that. I think that means they were meant for the .32 Winchester special. I was originally going to link these ballistic tips, but they are quite a bit more expensive.
