just be glad you noticed... imagine if you had primed, powdered and seated that cartridge?

if that is even possible, i cannot imagine that the results would be good in a gun...

I've done that once before. It's not something you usually do twice.

Here's another lesson I learned at the range yesterday: Just because the reloading manual lists an OAL for one bullet doesn't mean a similar-looking bullet from a different manufacturer will work at that OAL.

I loaded up some 124gr LaserCast 9mm last week, at 1.11" OAL. The thing is, I never checked if the finished round would chamber properly, because other bullets at that OAL were chambering fine. Unfortunately, the ogive had a different profile, and the first round got jammed into the barrel. Forcing the bolt open (it's a carbine) just pulled the case out, and left the bullet stuck in the barrel.

So now, I've got 199 rounds that I'm thinking of seating deeper and re-crimping. Or is this a bad idea?

Oh, and as for sorting brass before tumbling, I use these. Being a "brass vulture", I love 'em! I swept up over a thousand assorted pistol cases yesterday, and these things really cut down on sorting time.

I've never done it ... I'm too anal to be comfortable mixing brass.

Now I have another reason not to do it.
