9mm vs 380 dies

Post by Vonz90 »

So I know 380 is straight walled and 9mm is not, but I saw on a reloading forum that if one uses a 9mm sizing die, the 380 flairing dies and seating dies will work for 9mm. This is potentially beneficial to me as have 380 dies and the crimp die I have is marked 380/9mm anyway so I know that I would be good to go.

Can anyone confirm because I have not found what I would call a solid reference. 🤔

Yes. The 380 & 9mm are both .356" bullet diameter.
As long as you resize in a dedicated 9mm die you're gtg for flare & seat.

Thanks, it made sense to me for the reasons you stated but of course there could always be something unknown.

I picked up a sizing die yesterday and ran a test batch today with no problem. 25$ is lot better than pay $100 or waiting for the prices on the sets to come back down (or the places not marking them up to have stock).

So I am set for 380, 9mm and 40. Will still need 45 ACP dies but less hurry there.

9x18 is a different bullet diameter so maybe different dies too.
