i grew up in FL and went to many day long outdoor festivals and concerts in the summer heat.

what i know is simple, so long as you are still sweating, you are ok. when you stop sweating, you are in big trouble.

keep yourself hydrated, drink, drink and drink some more. dont drink alcohol or soda, drink water or gatorade if you prefer.

if you do find that you have stopped sweating, you have hit your first step of heat stroke and you should attempt to get hydrated and cool as quickly as possible. dont go sitting in a tub full of ice though, you will put yourself into shock and that will be even worse.

Cheers ;)

I dropped this question in here rather than 'random' because I can imagine SHTF scenarios which might find people ending up in enviromental conditions they haven't got much experience of.

Some articles for the Wiki on coping with extremes of climate would be a really useful resource, and the range of knowledge here ( lots of military service in weird and wonderful places for example ) ensures they'll be well informed.

I'll write the one on how to cope if you find yourself on a northern european island where it rains solidly for 6 months at a time :D

I already know how to do that. Heavy drinking, bland and tasteless food, and constantly calling soccer by the wrong name.

Did I miss anything?
