Co-worker got some bad news today......

His best friend's son was shot early this AM. The friend's son is a manager over several offices of some sort in the Houston area. He apparently got a call from ADT that the alarm had gone off in one of his offices; ADT also called the local police. He apparently got there first; the cops found him shot; he was transported to the hospital where he died.
That's all the details I have right now; everything is unclear.

This is why non-LEO good guys need to buy some body armour. It could save your life; at least maybe give you an edge. I have it, and on occasion wear it.

It's also a good example of why clearing a building is a team sport

My condolences to the family.

Damn, shouldn't have gone down like that, so sorry for this tragic loss. Here's hoping they catch the perp.

+10,000!!!

I offer my sincere condolences to you and your friend's best friend.

*IF* you're going to TRY an clear a building by yourself, consider that there is NOTHING in that building that's worth YOUR LIFE. If the suspect is already inside, he KNOWS where you're coming in. I'm going to give the guy the benefit of the doubt and hope he was outside waiting for LE when he was caught off-guard and shot while trying to contain a portion of the building.

We can Monday-Morning this thing forever, and that's NOT what his family needs to hear right now. Personally, I hope he at least got a few shots off into the suspect before passing on, and that suspect either dies or winds up at the hospital almost dead, and is CRIPPLED for life.

Unfortunately, if anything is found in the press, they frequently get so many things wrong you have no idea what's true, what's not, and what's outright completely off-base and demonstrably untrue!! The media screws so much up (even at crime scenes where they've been GIVEN all the relevant facts) that it's amazing most people don't lump them into the same credibly group as the National Enquirer!!
