AZ home invasion
Two things about this catch my eye:

A man, a woman and a 7-year-old child were inside the home when the group of men broke in, reportedly identifying themselves as police.

How many times does this have to happen before LEOs quit using "No-knock warrants?" Because this seems like justification for using deadly force no matter what the guy says who's breaking down your door.
and:

Cash, dark clothing, gloves and drug packaged for sale were found in the surrounding area.

could this mean that these were rival drugs dealers? The home-owner and the invaders?

An ex-neighbor was a sheriff's deputy, I asked him about home invasions after a couple occurred a few blocks down the street. He said the average homeowner had little to worry about, as most home invasions were drug related. I wonder if that's really the case anymore.

More than likely it still is, and they too will hit the wrong house on occasion.

We have lived, for 30 years, on a quiet street that loops and doesn't go anywhere.
Occasionally I get a weird feeling and go clip my 1911 to my belt. When my wife asks why I'm wearing it, I say "I don't know" and I don't.
And lately I've started leaving my 7.62x39 AR loaded and in a locked cabinet.
Just a feeling.

After an exhaustive search of the neighborhood, officers eventually took four more suspects into custody. Samuel Stewart, 25, Daniel Perez, 22, Antonio Alvez, 22, and Jaime Blanchet, 21 are all facing charges.

Some of those suspects were hiding in various locations, including garbage cans and neighbors’ backyards.

Indian School Road was closed for hours between 91st and 87th avenues. Officers suspended their search shortly before 8 a.m.

I used to live a couple of streets north of 83rd and Indian School Road. Just on my little street we had two cops and two houses where drugs could be purchased. This was back in the late 70's. The two cops were assigned to a different substation than the one for our area, and evidently had no pull in getting our street cleaned up.

I'm not saying the city government was corrupt, but Phoenix does have a certain reputation.

Indeed.

This same night there was a shooting on a stretch of freeway I drive down every night. From the news report it looked like someone just randomly started putting bullets into a car. When we drove by the scene it was covered with emergency vehicles with paramedics rushing around like I had never seen before. Fun stuff.

If it was just ONE car, I doubt it was "random".
