This happened in a Denny's that I regularly eat at after 1 am. I have several times sat in the booth that is two spots behind the robber with my .380 in my pocket playing this exact scenario out in my head. When I eat there late at night, I always put my hand on my pistol in preparation to draw every time someone comes in the door. I have also played out the process of acquiring a target in that situation many times in my head.

Just watching the video makes my heart race.

DAMN dude, I'm just glad you weren't there when this happened!

As much as we prepare for these kinds of things and our goal is survival, I REALLY don't want any of us to have to actually experience anything like that (being a cop is bad enough). But I feel better knowing that if many of us DO have to go through something like that, I'd like to think we'd come out ahead, even if the bad guys don't make it (that was THEIR choice).

Stay alert and aware, plus be PREPARED!

Thank God you weren't there, Mekender.

Tactically? He wasn't looking around whatsoever. That could be a decent opportunity if he tries that somewhere else.

Tactically, he was no more than 20ft from where I sit. There are no obstructions and the angle of the shot would have put any stray rounds into the ceiling or high up on the wall.. I would have had no problems taking the shot and dropping him. Had I been there, I would have not hesitated to stop his robbery.
