+1. I'd say the guy making that prediction has never actually met any Texans.
...even before I read MHI, my response to seeing a poster for the stars of the latest Twilight movies was "I see 2 targets and a collaborator".

We tried that early on -- didn't work too well. Latin culture is one of slavery, and until that changes, it really isn't compatible w. a free society.
And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm Reliance on the Protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our Fortunes, & our sacred Honor

A gentleman unarmed is undressed.

Mexico controlling the GoM coast?

Pipedream. There's too much oil and petrochemical industry here for either the Feds, or in the case of a federal breakup, the state governors, to let Mexico take charge.

I don't think so. Too many soccer players coming into the state would ruin High School football. Only the number of families needed to fill one or two 5A schools may be added per season. Once those children have been Texanized, more could be added. On the plus side, the northern border could be hardened to keep Stoops out.

While all things are possible, not many are likely. My aunt worked for Howard Ruff for years. I grew up hearing how we needed to stockpile food, buy old gas stations to stockpile fuel, and convert everything into precious metals for trading in the coming collapse, first foretold by Mr. Ruff in his 1974 book Famine and Survival in America. He has repudiated that particular book while updating his later stuff. He's also been wrong for over thirty years now.

On the plus side, when he was a media darling, my aunt got to go along on a lot of cruises (opportunities to meet Howard and get his personal advice), plus visits to other countries, including a trip to the Great Wall.
A gun is a tool, Marian; no better or no worse than any other tool: an axe, a shovel or anything. A gun is as good or as bad as the man using it. Remember that.
