Aegis, the world is really small at times. I like your idea. When I get settled in, I will let you know. Love to get some range time.

Stand pat or move out?
Re: Stand pat or move out?
Mousegun, ever hear the term,"sun breaks"? Actually, I have been visiting the area for over 20 years. I love the seasons. Last Christmas we had a snow storm that was the biggest in the last 80 years-loved it. It snowed on Christmas day-very cool,( no pun intended). And the summers are warmer than in the Bay Area.

I lived just outside of Oly. for three years; had friends that lived in Dumbwater and Lacey too. Back then it was the Olympia Brewery owned by Pabst; visitor parking was the Dumbwater PD parking lot (probably still is). Yeah, I'm familiar with sun breaks....usually right before or after a snow drop. Last time I saw weather like this was winter of 88-89 but it was MUCH colder then. That winter was one of the two reasons I moved back south.postmanone wrote:Mousegun, ever hear the term,"sun breaks"? Actually, I have been visiting the area for over 20 years. I love the seasons. Dunno about the silhouette shoot. I do know that the Enterprise, OR Machine Gun Shoot is second only to knob creek in size (or at least it was a few years back; dunno about now.)blackeagle603 wrote:There still a big silhouette shoot(s) east the mountains (Yakima area if I recollect)?
There used to have a group make the drive east of the mountains from the rifle club in Centralia where I shot NRA Jr's smallbore as a teen. Up the road a bit there's the Evergreen trap club up the I-5 south of Tumwater that has some good shoots. Connie's Components on military road outside Centralia is a great source for shotshell reloading. Wish I was closer -- consistently some of the best retail prices on shot out there.
If you make it that far north be sure to stop in at the Country Cousin at the Harrison Ave exit for a cinnamon roll (just have your cardiologist's number handy).
Some great opportunities in eastern WA and OR for long range shooting. Not too bad in the western side either but much of the timber and powerline roads we used to drive are locked down to all but foot traffic now (thanks a lot ELF).
My friend (who is also a member here, jrucker2004, he just doesn't post much) has family land out in Arlington, OR. 10K+ acres, I believe. This is his long-range area we've used before.

love that country. when time permits coming back from family visits I like to drive that route south through Bend and Klamath Falls to the 5.

Well Hell, I grew up around Canby, if anyone knows where that is (between Portland and Salem roughly). All kinds of wide open space in Oregon and Washington once you get away from the I-5 corridor.
And for Postmanone, no classes to do to get your permit.

I know where it is....I'm currently down the road from there just yards from Hwy 211 in a little blip on the map.Aaron wrote:Well Hell, I grew up around Canby, if anyone knows where that is (between Portland and Salem roughly). In most cases where I am, I suppose I'd stay put.
The only exception is if it's a mass nuclear strike from the Russians in which case there might be one lobbed at Penn State's water tunnel. I don't know if the Chinese would have one to spare.

'Regulate' used to mean the opposite of 'constipate.'

When I wrote the post, I was assuming that a lot of rural people would stay put and that a lot of urban people might elect to seek greener pastures so to speak. It seems now that this group is pretty self reliant, and stay where you are, seems to be the general consensus. I wonder how the huddled masses would react.............

The urban masses would likely stampede. Either that or wait for the Fed. with their finger up their nose.
