What kind of 12ga are you talking about that has a 10-round capacity? Saiga, or a security-style gun with a decent-sized mag extension?postmanone wrote:The 12 gauge loaded with the following, four rounds double 00, 2 rounds of sabots, two dragon's breaths, and than another two 00. Also, mounted on shotgun a surefire with a 100 lumens of brightness. On the concealed shoulder unit, a 40 cal semi-auto,( type up to the individual) 16 shot mag, three extra mags, with tactical knife. Also, wearing a class III bullet proof vest IIIA.
Now if one could buy a Black Charger with all of the toys of a police car except the red lights, but everything else. Spot lights, front grill guard, with super bright white lights. Have the unit tricked out with semi-bullet proof cabin and engine-seen cost down to $4500.

Whoa backup Netpackrat. Your magtube spring got weak just from storing rounds in it? It's fairly common knowledge that modern mag springs wont take a set but will only wear out from use. Is this a contradiction of that?

A properly designed and manufactured spring will not take a set when loaded within its design limits, but that presumes that the spring was a) properly designed, b) properly manufactured, and c) not stressed beyond the elastic range of the material. I'm not sure which of those was violated by my old spring, but it doesn't really matter since I installed a new one of a different brand. It wasn't the factory spring, it was the spring that came with the extended tube I bought a number of years ago. I switched back to the factory spring and tube cap until I got the new spring for the tube extension.Kommander wrote:Whoa backup Netpackrat. The extra rounds are on the stock. Actually, it holds more than just two. And the Dragons Breath's are legal where I am going to move, but in a real SHTF, who would care. I would use them as escape round, blinding the people that are trying to do you harm, and giving you time to load a few more rounds.
I really can't think of a better weapon than a shotgun for 90% of all uses, to defending you and your family, to actually getting food. And the racking of a shotgun, always gets attention.

How do you account for the deafening sound of a shotgun blast indoors? Do you keep earplugs handy, which carries it's own, separate kind of danger for allowing you to miss other, subtle sounds, or do you just say "hell with it," and let fly?
There must be an end to this intimidation by those who come to this great country, but reject its culture.

You will live. Your ears will be ringing for a day or two afterwards. You will have permanent hearing damage. You will be facing thousands of dollars of legal fees. But you will live.

Having been inside a closed space when a shotgun was ND'd (don't ask), there's an astounding silence, but you can still hear voices, etc -- the odd part is it's not more than a couple seconds until you can hear at a decent level, but, dang does it hurt!...

And it's not near as bad as a rifle being fired in a room. The sound of a shotgun is much lower (particularly 12-ga) and not as sharp as a rifle. A rifle REALLY hurts!Aglifter wrote:Having been inside a closed space when a shotgun was ND'd (don't ask), there's an astounding silence, but you can still hear voices, etc -- the odd part is it's not more than a couple seconds until you can hear at a decent level, but, dang does it hurt!...
POLITICIANS & DIAPERS NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON
A person properly schooled in right and wrong is safe with any weapon. A person with no idea of good and evil is unsafe with a knitting needle, or the cap from a ballpoint pen.
I remain pessimistic given the way BATF and the anti gun crowd have become tape worms in the guts of the Republic. - toad

oddly, the few times I've been near a rifle that was fired indoors, the rifle barely made a 'pop'.308Mike wrote:And it's not near as bad as a rifle being fired in a room.
