It's called "color of law".
It is a Constitutional violation to take property such as food items from citizens without just compensation. However, "they" justifiy it under the excuse of "national emergency", and know that the vast majority of Americans will not use violence to stop "them", because they are bigger and stronger. A executive degree or adminstrative ruling is used to provide a thin veeneer of legality. A prime example is FDR's gold bullion decree.

Color of law is basically a pig with lipstick.
As you have probably surmised, that was my point. There is no legal authority for that.

You mean like STEALING private property firearms from citizens who've done nothing wrong other than possess them when some politicians say they don't like citizens having the means to protect themselves - ALA KATRINA??
POLITICIANS & DIAPERS NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON

A person properly schooled in right and wrong is safe with any weapon. A person with no idea of good and evil is unsafe with a knitting needle, or the cap from a ballpoint pen.

I remain pessimistic given the way BATF and the anti gun crowd have become tape worms in the guts of the Republic. - toad

I've mentioned things like this before - its one of the oldest, common law, rights of government - that the Feds can do it might be a bit iffy, but a state, certainly, could. The Feds would be able to engage in a forced sale of goods, under eminent domain, and the ability to spend for the general welfare. But, and EO allowing confiscation is BS - certainly not w.o. paying for it.*

This goes to things like, "Bob's house is burning, and there's no hydrant - the fire department can break down the fence around Abel's pool, and take the water to put it out."

*Ish. The US did not have to pay for the refineries it destroyed in the Phillipines during WWII, to prevent them being taken by the Japanese, even though they were owned by a US company, and, I believe, the Phillipines were a US territory at the time. Honestly this strikes me as a bit abusive, but the refinery owners must not have been FDR supporters (SCOTUS under FDR was a shameful organization.)
And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm Reliance on the Protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our Fortunes, & our sacred Honor
