OTOH, for most of the metro/uni-sexual so-called "men" out there today, it's probably $90 well spent. In amongst all the bluster and blow-hard nonsense are likely to be some useful tidbits that will pack more wallop than hitting him with your man-purse...

What, perhaps reminding you of those old sand-kicking bully cartoons promoting the ATLAS body-building system from MANY years ago?
POLITICIANS & DIAPERS NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON

A person properly schooled in right and wrong is safe with any weapon. A person with no idea of good and evil is unsafe with a knitting needle, or the cap from a ballpoint pen.

I remain pessimistic given the way BATF and the anti gun crowd have become tape worms in the guts of the Republic. - toad

Just rewatched Serpico for the first time in years. He carries a man purse!

" A 9mm won't protect you!"

That always makes me think of the scene on one of those live cop shows were they respond to a shooting and found a guy all curled up crying and wailing because his short arm had been center punched by a .25 acp.

Hey, it won't protect you! It's possible to miss that with a 12-gauge, I saw it in a Steven Segal movie once!

But seriously IIRC Fairbarns learned his system as a policeman in Shanghai, China before WW2, and the Ju-Jitsu system was developed by some doctor who sent his dojo members out to fight in bars and report back on what worked and didn't work (or is it Judo?).
CRAFT disease strikes again!
The use of the word "but" usually indicates that everything preceding it in a sentence is a lie.
E.g.:
"I believe in Freedom of Speech, but". . .
"I support the Second Amendment, but". . .

That is his shtick right there. I signed up for his news letter for a while as I like to keep a heads up on the "RBSD" stuff going on out there...I think he took the "Rex Kwon Do" scenes from Napoleon Dynamite a little to seriously.

But....I have looked over his material and in general you could do a whole lot worse as far as the actual curriculum goes.

With everything "martial arts related" there are going to be criticism from every angle on everything you do. Fighting is one of the things that people have an instinctive basic understanding of, we've all been in them and it tends to turn people into "experts"

As far as shady business practices I would have no idea because I haven't purchased anything from the guy.

Though I have to add...if anyone is interrested in the "down and dirty" aspects of fighting for survival....I always have to point out Paul Vunak particularly the Enigma DVD. "Strange" doesn't even begin to describe the guy but when it comes to creating damage very quickly the guy knows his stuff.

That guy may seem crazy but he actually rocks. One thing for sure, if he closes with you, you are going to lose part of your face at the best, die at the worst.

I like The Who playing in the background.

Yeah that is why I recommend him as the first point of reference for serious self defense stuff. Have you seen him demonstrate "biting technique" for flesh? He tears through a side of beef with his teeth so freaking fast. His "continuous biting and gouging" stuff is :o

I have trained with one of his former students and his inside stories are hilarious.

I think I'll stay with good, classical Matsamura Orthodox karate.
