I'm grateful for all the input. Not especially worried about the screw-up, but it sure made me think about "real life."...

The FACT is that I'm unlikely to ever be able to compete because of the screwed up leg, so it's all training and practice for me. I may well run the Maks some day...

Can you walk backwards/blind to the weak knee side? Would it be allowed, be sane/safe, have any hope of improving times?

re: Carpal tunnel
Remember what you noticed about shoulder position while at my place and the difference side to side?

Sorry - I must confess I don't know what you mean... I doubt it would be any of the above... ;)

No question. Still working on that, but my biggest trouble comes when I'm sleeping.

OTOH, a friend sold me his "biomet ebice system" last night. It's a small cooler with a thin pad that wraps around the knee. Fill the cooler with ice-water, and plug it in, it circulates through the knee pad and cools the knee. I got my first 8-hour sleep in many, many moons. I woke up once and got up, mostly out of habit, I guess - but really could have gone back to sleep right away...

Further, I figured out that I can wear it UNDER my brace, which allows me to plug it in when I'm still and detach when I need to move around. It's HEAVEN! !!

!!

I have no words. This is - no doubt - going to help give me my life back! I'm working on how to run it from 12-volt - I have an inverter but that wastes a lot of power. I THINK I can make it run from a small plug-in transformer, running from a "cig-lighter". I have a small gel-battery that - I believe - would run it all day. Even if I have to manually control the pump with a switch, it would be doable! I bought a case of bottled-water last night, and froze them - I should be able to keep this thing rolling non-stop with that...

Oh - I forgot to add:

I'm going to wear an "immobilizer" next time - I think locking the knee straight would be better than working it, as it would eliminate the pain, the instability, and the "clunk"... I should be able to move fairly quickly though not GREAT it should be BETTER...

I had not heard of plug-in knee refrigerators before... That is the stuff broke down jocks, and active jocks dream of...

It's kind of a PITA, but...

I went to the range today - for a couple of hours. Burned up some Wolf in my SKS prepping for a "battle Rifle" shoot this weekend. Ringing the 200 yard gong with boring regularity, but I digress...

Bottom line, it was dinner-time before the knee got the best of me - including a trip to the grocery-store which would usually - by itself - be enough to lay me out for the next day...

This thing ROCKS!!

Bought 2 cases of bottled water and stuck them in the freezer tonight - that should keep me in ice for a while....
