I'd say pretty poor shot grouping, not a one laying there for the coroner to ID.
Wasted bullets in the windshield instead of the driver.

Wow really needed a 12 gauge, 00 buck shot, for this problem, who knows waht the situations with the home owner was
1) Glad he was able to stop the bad guys .
2) too bad he didn't have a 12 gauge.
3)hope the next has a 12 gauge or a auto loader rifle , M1A , etc .

I REALLY need to stop thinking about pre-positioning my short barreled 870 and M-1 Carbine around the house and just DO it.

So many choices and uncertainty about scenarios and safety vs accessibility...

I have grand kids , so I have to watch what I put where and what stage of lock down.
I have been thinking about a locking rack up high , let us know if you find something that works.

Ya' gotta' wonder about what's going on that he'd have four armed men drive up INTO HIS DRIVEWAY (of his well monitored and alarmed house) and try to take him down in a rapid take-over invasion of his home.

There's a LOT more to this story than what we've seen and read.

guy local to me sells police shotgun racks for cars... with a simple bit of wiring, the locking mechanism can be wired to house wiring... i was thinking about mounting one over my closed too so that i could have a shotgun ready to go at the flip of a switch.

Saw a news piece this morning looks like the AZ police have established some connection with the home owner and the guys breaking in, they were not specific as to the connection.

mekender , lets us know how the shot gun racks work out.

A little personal experience for ya': Make SURE you have some form of backup release for when the power is out. I don't care if it's watch batteries, AAA's, CR123's, or fermenting potatoes that are wired to it, but make DAMN sure you CAN get that thing out if there's no power. Also, some of the release mechanisms can be quite picky and hangup if you're already applying tension on the clamshell when you hit the release button. If you get to try them out, think panic-mode and trying to open when you're fumbling around. You don't want it too hard to open but not too sloppy either.

the more I think about it my challenge isn't so much "where is best and how to secure." It's the trade off between accessibility and decor/design sensibilities.

If it was just up to me I'd have old fashioned antler and or horseshoe racks above various doors and also the fireplace mantle.
