CARRYING IN THE NON-PERMISSIVE ENVIRONMENT

I've heard that too. Carry a gun common to wherever you are.

Interesting. Where would one aquire .380 Auto ammunition that has a 9mm Kurz headstamp? For my ammuniton collection of course... (<_<) (>_>)Fender Ketchup wrote:I've heard that too. Carry a gun common to wherever you are.
Seriously though, I don't think I'd go too many places without at the very least a decent blade.

I knew that. How do you keep it from digging when you sit down? Doesn't the snubbie refuse to fold behind your belt as your pants fold when you sit down? Doesn't it attempt to co-occupy space with tender flesh below your belt? And I don't mean that tender bit. I mean the space where you might have an appendectomy scar.
Note to self: start reading sig lines. They're actually quite amusing. :D

Speaking of his advice to go w/out a holster. That makes some sense to me. However, I'm not real excited about going Mexican unless it's a single action w/ an open loading gate. The clip draw thing might do it for me but I really like having trigger enclosed a bit.
Anyone here have experience with these type bluejeans w/ the built in pistol pocket? LINK
A bit spendy but would give you plausible deniability of not wearing a holster.

Re: CARRYING IN THE NON-PERMISSIVE ENVIRONMENT
I've carried a Spyderco Endura for so long, I nearly forget I have it. Walked into the voter registration office at the courthouse to vote absentee with it by mistake(the courthouse judges have issued an order to conficate non-LEO owned pocket knives anywhere in the courthouse). No one noticed, though.
I had to make a conscious effort to unload my pockets a couple of weeks ago at the airport when I got out of my car. But when I got to Houston, I felt naked without it. Next time I'm going to stop at a mom-n-pop store, and pick up one of those $6 Chinese "Spydercos" when I get to my destination. I'll just give it to the cabbie at the airport, before I check in for my return flight.
BTW, the TSA guy paid no attention to my keychain styker thingee, or the imitation Surefire Defender flashlight in my briefcase.

Why can't you just put into your checked luggage unless, of course, you don't have any...
Would it be that much more of a hassle to check a carry-on piece so that you can then have a knife at your destination? For me it's usually not a problem as I go and arrange my rental car while waiting for my baggage and usually they're done at the same time...
You could always buy a much better knife at your destination, keeping the box, and when you're done. place the knife in the box, wrap it with paper and mail it back to yourself...I've done that lots of times...

I keep a few of the Chicom serrated folders around. They're cheap, and work OK. No, they're nowhere near the quality of Spydercos, but......they're cheap. And yes, they can be brought to a near razor edge with some effort. They just don't hold it well.
I didn't have checked baggage, just the briefcase. And I was in Houston for just that day. It was the first time I have flown commercial airline since 9/11. I fly every 14 days, but that's Part 135, with PHI, ERA, etc. Helicopters.
Working offshore without a pocket knife is......silly. You need one. Generally every day.
BP tries to make their people do without them. They are British owned after all
I really wish I had deep enough pockets to afford my own plane. I'd fly myself into general aviation FBOs, and tell Chernoff's Children to stuff it.

Re: CARRYING IN THE NON-PERMISSIVE ENVIRONMENT
Personally I am just too dam fat to carry at the appendix. It prints like you wouldn't believe but I have NO trouble with my LCP or my Snubbie in a front pocket. Damn difficult to remember it's there most of the time. But it does give me something nice to hold on to when I am pumping gas late at night in a less than stellar part of town. All in all for EDC I really like pocket carry.
