? why would it matter if you shot a man in the ankles to drop him, if you're in fear of your life? I would think you'd want to shoot him where ever possible. As for skipping rounds - its a matter of backstop. Where the plant is, the odds of hitting someone are pretty remote, even less so after business hours.

For me, my guns usually won't work. I've had that dream often.
There must be an end to this intimidation by those who come to this great country, but reject its culture.

Oh, I had that one as well - and the bullets not being effective, and the primary gun not working, and my back up only working w. ammo pulled out of the primary, and staying in battery if I held down something... Not a fun dream...

Mine is the BHP with a trigger welded into place.
...even before I read MHI, my response to seeing a poster for the stars of the latest Twilight movies was "I see 2 targets and a collaborator".

If someone is shooting at me and there's an object in between us and that's the only way I can shoot him (perhaps you skipped over the part where I said "if necessary"?) and take him out of the game (remember the North Hollywood bank robbers?), I'm going to do whatever I can to stop the threat, and if I have to use deadly force to incapacitate him by hitting body parts not covered by soft body armor, then that's what I'm going to hit. Now that he's down on the ground, I can hit other areas which had been blocked by the vehicle. If he continues to try and shoot me, I can hit his head to stop the threat.Dedicated_Dad wrote:SorryMike, but this is ***HORRIBLE*** advice for a whole bunch of reasons.308Mike wrote:...If necessary, you can drop down and shoot his ankles - THEN he's not going ANYWHERE - and they won't be covered by any kind of body armor. Once he's on the ground, you can hit him by skipping the rounds underneath the vehicle if necessary. Usually, rounds will skim the surface of the object they deflected off at approx 1/2 the angle of impact. This works for walls (unless its drywall) as well as the pavement....
Simplest is sitting on the stand and trying to explain why - when the only legal excuse for shooting someone is "I was in fear of my life" - you shot him in the ankle...
Skipping rounds? Remember the whole "backstop" thing?
Sorry Bro -- you're WAAaaay off on this one...

You don't think I'd really try and shoot someone in the ankle if I had any other choices, do you? That's a damn small target, and a VERY painful one when injured in any fashion. We're talking about a specific scenarios here, not general tactics. I'd still rather be tried by 12 than carried by 6.

We all ought to remember to shoot for center mass, but that's not center mass of a human. It's center mass of whatever target the goblin offers you.
If the only thing visible is his head, shoot for the nose. If the only thing visible is his arm, shoot for the elbow. If the only thing visible is his ankle, shoot for the center of that mass.
THAT you can explain to a jury.

And may I say, from a moral point of view, I think there can be no justification for shoving snack cakes up your action.
